Flir Land Based MTI Container Solution: (The Spotter)

Gets rid of expensive fences and allows complete coverage and situational awareness over extensively large areas.

The “Spotter” is fabricated in-house, these solutions are designed around remote sites where there is little or no infrastructure. These systems are typically geared towards mining (illegal mining), Forestry, Fire Detection, anti-poaching applications where a high site is defined. A Flir PT-Series Camera or Military Spec Flir PT-602CZ-R with both Day / Night and thermal Capability is installed onto a pre-fabricated mast that is attached to the top side of the container +- 9m from nominal ground level. Detection Radius down to 2 x 2 Pixels with Kestrel Land Based MTI (Movement Target Indicators) This allows complete situational awareness 360 degrees 24/7 and up to a radius of 6km using the PT-602CZ-R Flir Military Spec Camera.

The entire “Spotter” container allows a physical security barrier to any would be intruders via a number of applications including High Pressure Pepper Gas systems and also allows complete housing of all equipment to necessitate power reticulation (Green Energy), additional security systems and wireless transmission equipment.

Permanent sites are generally preferred as the infrastructure can be placed and forgotten about. Sometimes there is existing infrastructure that can be utilised and others it may need to be created. Whichever scenario the equipment is permanently installed.

The Mobile Eye is a completely self contained unit that offers a dual PT-Series thermal and day / night camera which is completely operational upto 8 – 10km away (Line of sight dependent) to an existing control room or laptop connected to the prevailing receiver, communication too and from the unit is via a wireless link.

INTEGRATED GROUND RADAR ANDTHERMAL SOLUTION

Flir PT-Series cameras can be controlled to automatically follow a threat with thermal verifying targets day or night or in adverse weather conditions. AdvanceGuard operates in all weather and light conditions and can detect a variety of targets including people, vehicles or boats over water and isprogrammable to target sizes.

ADVANCEGUARD RADAR INTERGRATED WITH FLIR PT-SERIES THERMAL CAMERAS:

The AdvanceGuard surveillance solution provides a wide area detection and tracking system, covering both the perimeter and the area within a secure site. It uses a high frequency radar to scan the area and advanced trackingalgorithms to follow intruders. The system includes a background map display which shows the location of people or vehicles to a control room operator as they move within the site. Map locations are updated once a second.

Comprising of six integrated modules, witness provides a range of crucial system services – from tracking targets and controlling cameras to handling the complexalgoritms that analyse a targets behaviour and assigns threat levels.
Navtech Radar offers a range of radar suitable for use within the AdvanceGuard solution. These operate up to a maximum detection distance of 200 to 1600 metres. The radars are suitable for mounting either close to the ground or several metres up, out of reach as required. Detection and non detection zones can be configured in the Navtech Radar software to suit the particular site requirements. Different interfaces are also available including simple alarm output devices though to Security Management System integration.

THERMAL PERIMETER SOLUTION

The site perimeters are equipped at calculated intervals with a combination of equipment which includes Flir F or SR-Series Fixed cameras, video analytics module and single channel video server providing detection and verification ofgeo fenced areas (analytics) which communicates to an onsite and/or offsite control room.

The Secu-Systems solution for Perimeter protection / detection is a comprehensive onsite and remote video alarm verification and video management solution designed to provide sophisticated video alarm verification for theprotection and management of site perimeters.

The site perimeters are equipped at calculated intervals with a combination of equipment which includes Flir F or SR-Series Fixed cameras, video analytics module and single channel video server providing detection and verification ofgeo fenced areas (analytics) which communicates to an onsite and/or offsite control room.
A typical surveillance pole would comprise of the following;
FLIR Thermal Imaging Cameras: – FLIR thermal imaging cameras are available in a range of lens and detector size options. Using a 640 x 480 or a 320 x 240 detector with lens combinations ranging from 9-100mm achieves human detection from as little as a few meters up to 1.2km’s in ideal conditions. Advanced internal camera software delivers a crisp image without the need for user adjustments. Itprovides high quality thermal imaging in any night- or daytime environmental conditions.
Analytics Module: – The analytics module provides loop through edge based video analytics for perimeter detection purposes, effectively turning the FLIR cameras into long range detectors. Video feeds from the FLIR cameras are fed into the video analytics module, where images are analysed and processed according to a set of predefined rules, resulting in an output feed with analytics informationimbedded in the video, which is then fed into the Video Alarm verification transceiver.

  • Geo Fencing – Virtual Fence Lines (Alarms triggered only on defined areas)
  • Motion Tracking
  • Zonal Notification to a Graphical Interface

A single channel network video server converts analogue video into IP-based streams and transmits this video to remote clients over LAN, broadband and mobile network. The server receives live video feeds from the FLIR camerasand analytics unit, as well as alarm signals from the analytics unit and wired detectors such as fence zones, beams or alarm contacts and transmits this information to a local or remote operator, allowing them to broadcast audiowarnings and trigger remote switches in order to deter an intrusion or dispatch relevant reaction teams. The server transmits live images to a local network video recording server or DVR (Digital Video Recorder), where images are recorded and stored.

ADDITIONAL DETERENTS:

Additional deterents can be installed to enhance any perimeter solution on verification of any would be intruders and these can include:
  • Siren and or Strobe light
  • Audio warnings from the Control room
  • Pepper Spray Systems
  • Flood Lights

WHY THERMAL FOR PERIMETER DETECTION AND VERIFICATION:

All around premises, fences and physical barriers have been installed, but fences alone are not enough, fences can be climbed and accessed easily. Even barbed wire or electric fences will not deter all intruders. We therefore need to ensure with physical barriers a complete and reliableintruder detection system, and with analytics and being able to attain crisp images both day and night, this is acheived.

COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTION:

Regular CCTV cameras are of limited use for perimeters as they need a fair lighting to be effective, and associated costs with lighting and infrastructure is expensive, power points are only required at camera locations. With Thermal cameras no lighting is required and yet crisp images day and night or adverse weather conditions, the same images are produced. Not only do thermal imaging cameras produce crisp high contrast thermal images regardless of lighting and weather conditions, fewer cameras are needed to secure the perimeter when compared with that of normal CCTV cameras. This ensures keeping the overall costs of any perimeter project to a minimum, without compromising on the detection performance. Thermal perimeter systems also eleminates costly human patrols (Guards) and management thereof as thermal perimeter systems neversleep.

RETICULATION:

Reticulation of the network is normally delivered with a Fibre Ring encompassing the perimter, however in certain circumstances wireless communication can also be achieved with point to point or multi point wireless transmitters and is all dependent on each individual site layout and design. The live thermal footage is then viewed at a central, on site or off site control room, however due to analytics all cameras may be viewed simultaneously or not at all and only on alarm activations does verification of alarms take place by the site controller. As all alarm activations are recorded and stored, management reports and system procedures management ensures ease of managing perimeters and controllers from a higher management perspective.
